What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Are there any additional costs?

Everything was very straightforward, I was asked to buy additional insurance by Avis for breakdown etc, so it would have been useful to understand this wasn't included in the quoted price - if it was stated it wasn't obvious. It would be useful for you or the rental companies to provide more information on how pick up and drop offs work at the specific airports. Finding the drop off place a San Francisco was not great, as the address stated and google maps puts them in slightly different places - and the attendant joked that finding the garage wasn't easy.

Charleston Airport or Charleston International Airport serves more than 900,000 passengers every year and offers 124 daily flights to 14 destinations in the United States and around the world. This makes it the busiest airport in South Carolina and a suitable budget car rental hub for travellers coming into the state.

The airport is located in Charleston County adjacent to the Charleston Air Force Base. All passengers have to check in through the main terminal although the airport is composed of two concourses, all of which are housed in a three-storey building. Each concourse has five gates with Concourse B5 reserved for international flights. Parking facilities at the airport can accommodate more than three thousand vehicles.
