What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Corralejo and Jandia seaside resorts are the main attraction in Fuerteventura, in particular their beaches. They feature long, golden sands with cool Atlantic waters and some pretty good facilities. Both of these resorts have a good supply of hotels and resorts and can be found north and south of the capital Puerto del Rosario respectively.

If you are searching for something to do other than lazing on beaches in Fuerteventura, there are many places to head for a bit of culture and for a nice drive. The old capital of Betancuria is only an hour's drive southwest of Puerto del Rosario by car rental and comes with an impressive museum and some nice old buildings. Its setting amid mountain scenery is impressive.

You'll need to head to the capital for any type of shopping, although Fuerteventura is not known for its shopping prowess, per se. Other activities include a full range of water sports, including jet-skiing, windsurfing, surfing, and sailing. If you are staying down at the south coast, you will find some of the best windsurfing here in the world. There is also no shortage of bars, pubs and bustling hotel resorts to boot.
