Car rental location Chamonix Station

Location information for Chamonix Station

Chamonix Rail Station is the main point of entry into the winter resort town of Chamonix in the French Alps. The main station is called Chamonix Mont Blanc and serves connections from Lyon, Paris and other parts of France. This makes it a suitable budget car rental hub and an ideal starting point for exploring the French Alps and its surrounding villages.

Arranging for cheap car hire at the Chamonix Rail Station is made possible through the rental agencies that have set up collection counters at the station building. Travellers usually get around town via the shuttles and cable cars that connect the town centre to various ski resorts but it wouldn't hurt to have a car arranged in case you want to extend your holiday to exploring other places near Chamonix.

While in town, you're probably going to spend most of your time skiing or mountain trekking as these are the most popular activities hosted in the area. But Chamonix does have its own fair share of tourist attractions that you may want to visit while you're there. For instance, the Mer de Glace (Ice Sea) is a popular site and is accessible via the Montenvers rack railway. This glacier is on of the biggest in continental Europe. You might also want to view the extensive collection of crystals from Chamonix and the rest of the world at the Musee des cristaux (Crystals Museum).

After spending the day sightseeing or skiing, sample some of the most popular dishes in the region through the many restaurants around the town centre. The town centre also features a variety of small retail stores selling souvenirs and other types of merchandise.

Once you've had your fill of Chamonix, take your car hire at the Chamonix Rail Station and head to the Swiss borders and to Geneva. The city is just an hour's drive away and will make for a great day trip destination.
