Decades ago, you would not have wanted to visit the town of Cardiff. It was an industrial town, rough around the edges and slightly bland. But the years have been kind to Cardiff, and it transformed from a dull town into a very lively one, a truly pleasant place to visit. It’s now the capital of Wales and has a thriving economy, attracting many tourists from all over especially during the summer. Cardiff is located at the northern part of Cardiff bay, which gives it an extra charm. Also, like many cities in Europe, Cardiff actually has its old town center. There’s a castle, a park, and a university in the historic center, located just north of the River Taff. The castle is a particularly nice place to visit as it looks large and imposing. It was once the home of the Marquis of Bute and because of that, its interior is particularly interesting, ornate and totally unique. There are several museums in the city that you can visit too. One of them is the Museum of Welsh Life at St. Fagans where there’s a wonderful garden, one of the most beautiful, in fact, in all of Wales. This place is more geared towards the children, however, so if you want a more mature place, you can go to the National Museum and Gallery of Wales where there’s a wonderful collection of paintings and artifacts.
