In fact, because of its proximity to the capital city, many people who work there have moved here, preferring Brighton’s quiet charm to London’s busy atmosphere. Some people have even taken to calling Brighton “London by the sea”. Another thing that Brighton is known for is its laid back lifestyle that’s almost bohemian in quality. It’s a very open-minded city, very fun-loving too, and is actually the gay capital of Britain. Brighton also has a big population of students as it is home to the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton. The best time to go there would be in May when the Brighton Festival is held. You’ll find all sorts of activities then, from art exhibitions, to concerts, to debates, and much more. If you like a more “alternative” form of entertainment, though, you can always go to Brighton in July when the Brighton Pride is held. It’s a gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender festival that lasts for a whole week. It attracts people from all different parts of the country and even in foreign places.
