Internet car hire search expert,, is celebrating being ranked number one when it comes to natural searches for comparative rental prices on the net. A report released by search engine marketing specialists, Greenlight, shows that for October 2010, the site achieved 53 per cent of over 760,000 searches related to hiring a car.

This was not just domestically, but also world wide. The latest figures back up’s Highly Commended award at last year’s Travolution Awards in the category for Best Meta-search / Price Comparison. October’s figures are up by six percent on figures recorded by Greenlight for July 2010.

Greenlight finds Avis and Budget tops in car hire web searches

Greenlight announced that 1.4 million car hire internet searches were performed in April, with Avis and Budget showing a dramatic increase in search visibility. Greenlight, the leading independent specialist search engine optimisation (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC) consulting firm in the UK, revealed the findings in its Car Hire April 2010 report.

During the study, Greenlight compiled data to classify the 356 most popular global destinations that Britons travel to, which amounted to 44 per cent of all car hire related searches. The company also profiled which search terms were used by consumers to book car hire companies, with Car Hire appearing 201,000 times, representing 14 per cent of the total.

Budget and Thrifty car hire companies saw a 13 per cent increase in natural search visibility, bringing both into the top 10 of the league table. The car hire giants had previously been ranked at 11 and 12, respectively. Greenlight found that CarHire3000 was the most visible advertiser in April, achieving 82 per cent of voice.

Avis also made strides in search engine returns, increasing its paid visibility by 44 per cent since January. The company leapt in ranking from 10 to three during the period. A few new car hire firms made gains in search engine success, including SunCar, which achieved a 25 per cent share of voice and finished at nine in the league table.

Leading car hire comparison website named

Leading car hire comparison website has made the top of the list of Google searches for car hire in the month of September, achieving 54 per cent for the 1.5 million car rental searches, according to independent online marketing agency Greenlight.

The Greenlight report also showed that took the number one place for both domestic and worldwide search terms in September, with 63 per cent and 52 per cent respectively, as well as being the most visible for all terms related to car hire.

Managing director of, Gareth Robinson said the report highlighted the strength of the website online, with their expertise in search engine optimisation positioning them at the forefront of the market.

The car hire comparison website has already reported strong results over the summer, with a 38 per cent year on year rise in bookings, and 72 per cent increase in revenue.

Robinson believed the website’s success was down to the quality of service on offer, with the website offering customers a better deal with suppliers benefitting from a fairer, more cost-effective service, and customers having the ability to choose from low prices form a wide selection of providers was launched in 2003 as a car hire broker, and relaunched as a comparison site in 2007, has won various prestigious travel awards.

The company compares car hire deals from about 50 car hire firms including Alamo, Budget, easyCar, Holiday Autos and Sixt in over 9,000 locations around the world.
