Free fuel for Europcar customers

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Those who love to hire cars on a regular basis will already be well aware by the low prices offered by Europcar, which is one of the UK’s leading car hire companies. However, the company have just launched a new deal which will help regular customers to make great savings.

Europcar is giving their customers a £10 voucher which can be used on their next rental each time they return the car with the fuel tank more than a quarter full.

The offer is the brainchild of Catriona Lougher, Marketing Director of Europcar. In a recent interview she explained the reason for the offer: “Customers have told us they like the option of buying fuel up front as it saves them the hassle of re-fuelling the vehicle at the end of the hire and also means they receive a good rate at a time when fuel costs are rising again. However, there are occasions when the customer has not used as much fuel as they anticipated and this can cause some dissatisfaction.  As it would be difficult to calculate the exact reimbursement cost for any fuel left in the car, we have decided to offer a £10 voucher towards their next hire. This is all part of our commitment to make vehicle hire from Europcar accessible, straightforward and cost-effective for our customers.”

The awesome offer applies to any customer who buys a full tank of fuel at the start

of the hire and takes advantage of one of Europcar’s car hire deals, such as Europcar’s competitive rate per litre, which is 5 pence under the average high street pump price.

Europcar car rental launches marketing campaign on Twitter

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Europcar stepped into the internet marketing arena this week with the launch of its “Hot Summer Tweets” campaign on Twitter. The campaign hopes to attract more car hire customers in the remaining summer months.

The campaign centers on a series of short commercials about interesting destinations as well as special offers on car rental that can be had by linking to their web site.

Europcar, the leading car rental company in Europe, is a company known for its innovative ideas about environmental friendly car hire. They are pioneers in the field of electric car hire. This Twitter campaign shows that they can be just as innovative when it comes to marketing.

Danny Higgins from Europcar said, “We’re very keen to explore new platforms such as Twitter to increase our brand awareness and interact with new customers in a very informal and more personal way. While the vast majority of our Tweets concern fun ideas for places to go, our aim is to ‘Inspire to hire’ and introduce new customers to the idea of hiring a car for their weekend trips and UK holidays. ”

The company hired a web design team from Fortune Cookie to help with the campaign, but the content of the tweets themselves reportedly comes directly from staff at Europcar.

Europcar increases their fleet in Australia

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Amid reports of car shortages in Australia, forward thinking car hire company, Europcar has announced that it has increased its fleet by adding more medium-size cars from Hyundai. Hertz and Avis were recently caught unprepared as demand soared in some areas of the country.

Europcar will be adding the environmentally friendly Hyundai i30 to its existing fleet. The car is economical and easy on the environment.  It’s one of the lowest emission petrol vehicles on the road.

According to Ashley Jurberg of Europcar, “The Hyundai i30 complements our existing fleet well. Our customers have become more environmentally conscious and this has created an increase in demand for more environmentally friendly vehicles like the Hyundai i30. It has a good record in reliability and safety and is also roomy and comfortable,”

Europcar is known throughout the world as being the most environmentally sensitive car hire companies on the planet.  The company recently teamed up with the nonprofit organization Greenfleet to implement a program of carbon neutralization.  Every time Europcar adds a car to their fleet, seventeen new trees are planted by partnership.

Europcar car rental and Nissan announce try-before-you-buy

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Hoping to encourage more people to buy electric vehicles, Nissan has announced a partnership with car rental giant, Europcar,  that will allow prospective buyers to try out electric cars before they buy. Many people don’t even consider buying an electric car, because they simply just don’t know enough about them.

Since most electric cars only have a maximum travel range of 160 km, the plan would also allow purchasers of electric vehicles to get discounted rates on rental cars for use on trips of longer than 160 km.

The partnership is part of a broader plan on the part of Nissan and Europcar to provide electric car rental throughout Europe as well as in New Zealand and Australia. They hope to have electric vehicles on the road by 2010.

“This signature fits perfectly with the principles of our Green charter and our action policy intended to offer our customers a fleet with as limited an impact as possible on the environment,” according to Rafael Girona, Europcar’s CEO.

Both companies have been pioneers in the emerging zero-emission electric vehicle market.  Nissan recently announced plans to open an electric car battery manufacturing facility in the UK as well. Their electric car manufacturing facility is located in Sunderland.
